What EssayLab is

A tool that scores college application essays against a 5-trait rubric anchored to published admissions writing. It returns a score and per-trait reasoning. That's it.

What EssayLab is not

An admissions consultant. A guarantee of admission to any school. A replacement for your teacher, counselor, or a human reader who knows you.

We will never tell you which school you should apply to, which school will accept you, or whether you are a "strong applicant." We only grade the writing.

Your essays are yours

You retain full ownership of every essay you submit. We do not claim rights to your writing. We grade it and return the score.

Payment

Paid tiers are one-time purchases. No subscriptions. No auto-renewals.

The Single, 3-Pack, and Unlimited tiers each have the limits stated on the pricing page. All sales are final unless EssayLab fails to deliver the grade (e.g. technical failure), in which case email support@tryessaylab.com for a refund.

Acceptable use

Submit your own writing. Don't submit content that isn't an essay (we will refuse and credit will not be returned). Don't try to break the grader or extract the rubric prompt. Don't share your account credentials.

What we don't do

EssayLab is not an AI detector and does not flag essays as AI-written. EssayLab is not an essay humanizer or rewriter. We only grade.

No admission guarantee

Receiving a high score from EssayLab is not a guarantee of admission to any college. Admissions decisions involve dozens of factors beyond the essay.

Service availability

We aim for 99%+ uptime. We do not guarantee it. Scheduled maintenance is announced in advance when possible.

Account termination

We can suspend accounts that violate these terms. You can close your account anytime by emailing support@tryessaylab.com.

Changes

If we change these terms, current users are notified by email and continue under the prior terms for 30 days.
